Music to my Sorrow - introduction

This is a possible novel in progress, meandering along day by day in Lent. Can writing fiction be a Lenten discipline? Well, it needs to be a practice that opens the heart and focuses the mind, so writing a chapter a day may be better as a spiritual practice than giving up chocolate. Especially when I don't eat much chocolate in the first place.

You will note that the chapters rise up, in standard blog form, from beginning to end, which means in a standard blog experience they actually show up with the most recent portion or chapter first, and you have to scroll down to start and work your way, step by step, chapter by chapter, to read in order.

If this ends up making more sense or is enjoyable to read just as they show up, top to bottom, let me know. That would mean something, not that I have any idea what it would be! But most of you will go down to Chapter One and then read entry by entry back to the current top post.

  1. Journey well! Introspection is a necessary tool for the fiction writer, so the idea of daily discipline that reveals something is a good thing. The characters sometime surprise you, in that they tell you things you once knew, but had forgotten, or never knew but needed to understand. If every personage in a dream is you, so much the same is the fiction character. And, one wonders, so much the same is everyone you meet in everyday life ...
